| This
weatherboard and fibro home would certainly have some
stories to tell – built around 1900 with additions
in 1945 – it has a character of its own.
It was moved to its current location in 2000 when all
the wiring and plumbing were brought ‘up to speed’
then had some final touches added in 2006.
Downstairs
is a fantastic studio space (6m x 6m) on a concrete
slab with an ensuite bathroom that has shower over claw
foot bath (perfect for balancing the bubbly on) toilet
and timber vanity. Needless to stay it stays cooler
downstairs and the arched timber windows that were installed
in 2006 add that ‘Mary Poppins’ touch.

| As you
walk upstairs you find yourself on a covered verandah
that spans 3 sides of the house and enter the
open plan living area though some classic French
doors that started their life in a bank.
The floors in the living/dining/kitchen area offer
the warm deep hue that only Rosewood can, whilst
the floors in the main bedroom and bathroom offer
the fresh honey colour of Silky Oak).
The curved timber kitchen
benches were designed by a local guitar marker,
there’s an additional tap plumbed to the
sink for rainwater (not connected yet but rainwater
tank on site) and there is a wok friendly gas
cooktop and stove. All the windows are timber,
many of them are the original casement windows
designed to catch the breeze, the kitchen sash
windows open to the verandah and make the perfect
serving windows while the living/dining area enjoys
two sets of French doors, helping to bring the
outside in. |

The main bedroom (4m x 4m) also
has its own set of French doors opening directly
out onto the covered verandah while bedroom 2
(4m x 2.5m) has nice big French windows with brass
fittings and wooden blind. The bathroom
offers a deep, extra long bath, separate shower,
toilet, timber vanity and feature stone wall tiles
with a polished timber floor. |

Outside the
covered verandahs are just fantastic and the garden
represents many, many loving hours of thoughtful planting
to produce a garden rich with permaculture plants, local
indigenous plants and rainforest bush tucker for the
wildlife, the kids and for you. There is a pond
provided for frog friendly habitat and the timber chicken
coop ensures happy chickens and fresh eggs.
In short this property offers
loads of character and history in a well planted, private
location just 200m from the Bellinger River and great
swimming holes, where you may even spot a platypus from
time to time, 500m from supermarket, bottleshop and
medical centre and 1500m from the heart of Bellingen. |
